Skills Clinic for Members, 8:00 AM

The Detroit Curling Club will present three skills clinics for members, taught by Mike Bahr. 

Cost is $30 per curler. 

Clinics will be capped at 24 spots, with potential for 30, so please do utilize the waitlist. 

  

Clinic 1 (All Levels)

November 1, 2025

Time: 8:00 am to 10:00 am

Clinic 1: Balance and Delivery

Description:  Learn how to achieve greater balance while delivering stones.

Drills:

1. Balance
   1. Balance Drill #1 – Single Rock Balance Drill (Half Sheet drill - Objective: Learn true balance – don’t lean on rock)
   2. Balance Drill #2 - Candy Drop (Half Sheet drill - Objective: Learn how to adjust your weight – pick up candy and drop it into another bucket)
   3. Optional Drills for more advanced curlers

                  i.     Takeoff - No Rock – Lift Support (broom or Stabilizer - Objective: Focus your weight without full support)

                  ii.     Flying - No Rock, No Support (broom or Stabilizer - Objective: Focus your weight without any support)

2. Delivery
   1. Field Goal (Half Sheet - Objective: Focus on Line - deliver stone between to stones)
   2. No C (Half Sheet – if required - Objective: Slide without disturbing the targets.)
   3. Release Drills - if required

                  i.     Partner release drill (Center of Sheet - Objective: Release the stone with the proper handle and turn.)

                  ii.     Hold It - Set the turn (Half Sheet - Objective: Hold the stone with the proper handle until told to release with proper turns)

4. Delivery Video Recording (Half Sheet Drills - Objective: Evaluate your delivery with real-time recorded video – requires recording device – mobile phone)
5. Flying Blind (Advanced Curlers Only - Full Sheet Drill - Objective: Deliver the stone down correct line without looking)

 

The clinic will be lead by Will Hamilton, a Level 3 High Performance Coach from Waterloo, Ontario.  He is also a co-inventor of the Smartbroom.  

 

The cost for the clinic is $30 per person.
